Universal Muffler install

Hey guys whats up. i just recently bought this muffler. I also bought a reducer and is 2.5 id to a 2.25 id. I guess i ordered the wrong reducer becasue it looks like i have to weld them together unless i put the small end in the big side(muffler side) and the big side over the actual muffler pipe. I bought clamps and i got a hanger to hold it up. My actual question is has anyone just put a universal muffler on the stock pipe even though it bends around the axel. Do i have to extend the pipe to get enough straight into the pipe to put the muffler on. I am going to get the full exhaust eventually i just want it on now while it is kinda nice out in michigan. Well any help would be good thanx guys

first off, why just buy a muffler..

Now take the muffler to an exhaust shop have them weld it on the right way. Don't use clamps or some rigged up reducer. If you dont do it right you'll have a bunch of exhaust leaks and it will sound like ass.

Shouldnt cost you more thne 30 bucks

Well i bought the muffler because they didn't make the whole thing for my car and i was just going to make straight pipe all the way back and connect it to that. I'm getting access to an exhaust shop after hours and i can do what i need. Should i just clamp it on till I get the 2.5 straight pipe or weld it like you said. O ya to add it isn't on yet. just brain storming before i put it on.

As stated earlier, clamping is a no no. Welds are much more effective at keeping exhaust gasses contained than clamps are.
