The rubber coupler ripped on my UIP to intercooler ripped while i was putting it back on. I used what wasn't ripped and did a half ass job putting it back together. On the way home, I noticed, lots of spoolup noise, and turbo lag. I also couldn't get past 7psi. My car also idled way down when I let off the gas coming off the highway. It down to what looked like 400 rpm's. Would those symptoms lead to my coupler being ripped? And where do I buy a new one?

Thanks!

more than likely it is due to the coupler since you didnt have these symptoms before. Is the UICP aftermarket? what size is it? You should be able to find a coupler that will work from one of the forums' supporting vendors.

Would wrapping the pipe with electrical tape, and clamping it on work as a temporary fix? I am really going to need to drive the car for the next few days.

you could go to NAPA and try to source some "big rig" truck hose. Im not so certain electrical tape will hold. Duct tape would be better :)

It's just a rubber hose that goes around the two pipes with a clamp holding it together.

If it is the stock piping, then I know exactly what you are talking about. That thing rips easily. What I did to fix it was take a 2.5" coupler and tossed it over it and tightened the bejesus out of it to make sure there were no leaks. As for tape, not likely. It would take a lot of tape and probably some RTV to seal the sucker.

If it is an aftermarket pipe, just go get a new coupler with clamps and be done with it.

If it's just a straight connection.... I would get the cheaper one of the two...

It is, I would get the 2.5 inch one. But I don't know how I would clamp it to the UIP. The end of the UIP only sticks down maybe 1 inch. I don't know if thats enough to get a t-clam on there.

napa sells truck radiator hose. You can get a few inches for $10. Bring your car in, pull off the pipe, match the size, replace it and go.

Right, you take the coupler and push it over that end part and clamp it onto the bump at the end of where the clamp is suppose to go. It's only a quick fix though. If you plan on boosting it, just get a aftermarket UICP.

Oh, and I was wrong, the coupler needs to be a 2.25 (forgot I used my old turbo inlet one when that happened)
