ok...im new to this scene....i've been reading alot about turbo's but couldnt find exactly what all this stuff means:
50-trim, 60-trim,etc...
a/r
i understand how a turbo works and what the wastgate is and what a bov is and how they work but i have never been told exactly what those mean and was wondering if anyone can help me out.
sorry for the long post guys...

50-trim and 60-trim refers to the size of a turbo, i believe measured in mm? I'm not sure exactly what it is that is being measured, but anyway you get the idea. There are of course plenty others, but aren't necessarily named in the same convention (such as the g-series of mitsu turbos).

a/r is the air/fuel ratio. That is pretty self explanitory, but it is the ratio of air to fuel inside the combustion chamber.

so the bigger the trim the bigger the compressor wheel?
say i got a turbo with a a/r of .60.....what would the air/fuel ratio be?
im sorry if im confusing some of you but it bugs me that i dont know exactly what this stuff means and im doing alot of research on turbo's before i decide to purchase one for my 1g

oh thanks man! this is exactly the info i was looking for. thanks guys for the info.....much appreciated.

50 and 60 is the trim of the turbo. A/R means area ratio which is the size of the turbo housing. LIke a .63 area ratio, thats the size of the exhaust housing. Check out those sites they may help you understand a bit better what your refering to..

Air Fuel is A/F or AFR you were close tho...
