ok well anyway i am getting a Star Stage II turbo kit, and i was wondering like what problems you may have had, with either hahn or Star Stage I or II, also if you havent what you have done to keep from having Problems.

If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks :dsm: :cool: :thumb:
 
I have the Hahn Stage 2.

The only probs that I had are:

Downpipe sucks!! Leaks! BUT they now sell a 3" downpipe that fixes that problem.

Exhaust manifold bolts supplied with the kit have a tendency to break off inside the head.
Get some 8mm exhaust manifold studs ( for the 4g63 ) from the dealer and problem solved.

Cartech FPR kinda sucks.

Other than that, there have been no problems with the HRC kit.

As far as I know about the Star kit:

The intercooler in NO WAY compares to the Hahn kit ( FMIC )
The Vortech FMU is better than the Cartech that comes with Hahn kit. ( BUT: Vortech S-fmu is better than Fmu ( sold seperately )
Downpipe has a bad fit, and does not have a flex section and can be prone to cracking.
Better: BOV, but thats all a matter of whether or not you wanted that BOV in the Star kit in the first place.
More top -end power with the T3/T4 turbo, but lacks off the line power of the Hahn turbo.
 
I have a star stage II kit and actually am in the process of rebuilding, BUT...read on don't get too scared...

When it seemed my engine finally blew (I have piston ringland blowby it seems and oil is coming out of my valve cover breather) I would boost about 10-11psi with this weard lean spot. I'm actually curious if u have it? If u have an air/fuel gauge, when your rpm is at about 4k in second gear lets say, does your airfuel gauge jump to red and u get this weard backfire sometimes, or the car almost feels like it's hesitating or shaking?
