Turbo setup help

Had some money issues come up and had to sell but then came back into my full money back out of it and looking for a nicer setup.

I found a 50/.63 turbonetics. What do you think about that? I was thinking a 35r was a bit much for what I was wanting but a lot of people were telling me that the 35r would benifit me in a few different ways. Increase lag for better traction, and the power to be there for later use.....

A 35r is overkill for 350whp, A nice 50 trim like PTESCM5031 would be good. Id suggest a 50 trim because if you ever wanted to have more power that possibility is still there.

Anyone have a nice 50 trim ext wg. setup that they would like me to take off of their hands? :)

There's no doubt a 50 trim is a great pump gas turbo. The map is fairly forgiving and it won't hit as hard as your 20G did. Nevertheless, I think one of the best pump gas turbos for an FWD is a 60-1. It has tons of top end to get you through the spin zone with some semblance of traction and you don't need to run it at crazy boost levels to reach your horsepower goals. You may consider it a bit on the overkill side, but it's nice to have some room for future growth.

Good luck in making your choice,

Andy

I'm all confused about what I need/want now! With a 60-1 where would I expect to see boost? What about the link I posted up there, I can get that kit fairly cheap and its a 60mm...But with a stage 5 wheel :( I was talking to the guy and he said it was a killer setup for a FWD... Could someone point me in the right direction?

You'd be fine with either one so if you feel comfortable with the setup you're looking at and you've done your research then go with it. I've never owned a 60-1, but from what I understand they generally spool in the low 4K RPM range. Perhaps a little higher than a 50 trim, but with more top end pull.

yea for a daily driver and on pump gas i would go with a 50 trim. you might have some lag but when you hit full boost itll be a huge difference from your 20g

Not really, the td06h 20g isn't much different from most 50 trims, they flow about the same rate, just different maps...

Alright I made a little trip to Extremepsi's website. Here are the main contenders:

SCM5031
SCM3227
SCM3427

What are the pro's and con's of each of these turbo's? Could I get away with running a 38mm ext. WG on the 3427 or would I really need to upgrade to a 40mm?

Since I'm FWD, I'm looking for something thats not going to be too harsh down low and cause me to boil the tires, but looking for great top end power.

Right. The 20G hits MUCH harder and is more suited to an AWD setup than FWD. I know you linked to an RS49T and while I haven't owned one, a close friend had issues with his, had it rebuilt, sold it and then had the buyer experience issues. For what you want to do, the 50 trim will be fine. I just brought up the 60-1 since it's probably one of the best FWD turbos out there, especially on pump. I think the turbo you linked to first will be more than workable and you can run it with a 38mm gate.
