I have a small 16g that im in the process of rebuilding. I bought the car from a guy and he spun bearings and the turbo had some shaft play. I have a ss braided oil feed line running to the turbo from the ofh. Im gonna be doin a frankenstein build which is gonna cause high oil pressure. So..... Do i need some sort of restrictor for the small 16g or should it be good the way it is?? Thanks for any help

Use a ported OFH to reduce the oil pressure top end some. It is a general consensus that thrust bearing turbos do NOT need a restrictor, as long as your oil pressure isn't getting out of control high.

There is actually some information supporting that certain inline oil filters and restrictors have prematurely killed thrust bearing turbos from starving them of oil during lower rpm (low oil pressure, at cruise mostly).

NP...It will definitely help in the higher rpm range, especially when at full temp and the oil is thinner. Brought my pressure down about 30psi

Do the simplest and safest thing. Go buy a 1g oil feed line. It will mount from the head, the 1g oil line acts enough as a restrictor. I prefer it MUCH MORE than my OFH line.

It will be the right amount oil pressure, and keep your turbo safe. All you do is put a bolt in the place of where the OFH line used to be, and your good to go.

You could also feed from the head like these ^ guys LOL...

If you go that route, make sure you plug the filter housing outlet with a bolt that is BSPT (british standard), not NPT. I can't tell how you many people i've listened to wonder why their filter housing cracked or is leaking when they force NPT threads into BSPT. It's 3/8" BSPT. Mcmaster carr has them for like $2
