I have a 91 tsi awd with a 90 jdm 6bolt i bought for dirt cheap because the motor was blowin its bored 20 over 8:5:1 2g pistons balance shaft elim i plan on using a 2g maf i have a tubular mani and will have full 3" exhaust i will be using an eprom ecu and have a chip burnt for it i have a big 16g turbo and will run a 190 wally it will be a daily driver that i want as reliable as possible so i will be running 20psi max normally and then maybe 25 if i take it to the track once in a great wile my main question is will 560 evos be big enough or should i get 650s i will not be running dsm link or anything like that i wanna keep the tuning as simple as possible because im not good at it nor do i have the desire to be or take my car somewhere everytime i need a tune thats why im having a chip made but i will be buying a wideband and data logger to watch knock and possibly and afc just for a little fine tune on the chip will this be an ok setup for what im wanting to do or does someone have any other advice i forgot to mention i have a full front mount and 2.5 hard piping and will also have an aftermarket intake pipe thanks for the help in advance it is very much appreciated

I would go with the 650cc, As long as you have the chip made to compensate for the 650 injecters you should be fine and you can fine tune it with the afc. The afc is pretty simple to use since your just basiclly fooling the MAF into thinking less or more air is being recieved.

Note: good choice on the 2g MAF great upgrade.

The afc is pretty simple to use...

So is ECMLink. I know you may not "want" ECMLink, but a basic tune is no more difficult to do. I don't feel like crunching numbers but it seems like with all the stuff you have to buy, ECMLink would be in the same price range. And you can set it to whatever size injectors you want.

Thanks for the quick response guys amd im only gunna have less then 300 bucks in the ecu and chip so its alot cheaper then link to boot i just wanna keep it simple since it will be a daily driver id rather be enjoyong driving it then messing with the tune constantly

Assuming you have manual trans, you don't have to do anything with the ECU if you run 550's and a 2g MAF. Using a SAFC would let you go to 650cc. Possibly more with a 2g MAF. Even with a burnt chip, you still want (more like need) some way to fine tune the car such as SAFC. However, with the 8.5:1 pistons you will need a way to pull timing (which the SAFC won't do). If the engine truly has 2g pistons and no tuning device, it's very possible that's what caused the damage to the engine. There is no way around tuning. DSMLink is easy to use, reliable, not very expensive, and light years ahead of the AFC. If you can't afford Link, rebuild the engine to stock. If you don't want to learn about (or pay for) tuning then your modifying the wrong car.

Fast, cheap, reliable. Pick only two.

The motor was stock when i got it and i rebuilt it from bare block so now it has the 2gpistons and i know that it has to have timing retarded thats why im going with a chip to compensate for my entire setup and then just the afc for a fine tune granted these cars are somewhat old but when takin care of properly and maintained as a daily driver and not beat on and rodded they can also be very reliable as well ive had 2 other dsms with minor mods amd and a few other things and they ran very hard and were extremly reliable im not building a drag car or anything like that just a dd with some decent power

I would recommend getting dsmlink over a burnt chip. That way you dont have to get a new burn everytime you change something. You may save money now with the chip but link is worth every pennie in the long run.:thumb:

Why would you constantly mess with the tune? Once it's set, then leave it alone. Unplug the laptop. If you can't purchase new, check the classifieds. You will be surprised at the savings. I actually have two EPROMs with V2 already installed sitting right here, but they are both for 2Gs.

...it will be a daily driver that i want as reliable as possible...

...i wanna keep the tuning as simple as possible...

...but i will be buying a wideband...

3 reasons to get link right there, not including my first paragraph. Either setup will work, but ECMLink is the the clear choice in suiting your goals.
