Hello, Newbie here. Well newbie to this forum anyways!
I previously owned a '95 TSi several years ago and since then I have wanted to get back into a DSM, its like an addiction! I recently found a '91 Eclipse GSX that is for sale, but it has a transmission problem apparently. Keep in mind that I have not seen this car yet but for the price and relative low mileage (130k) I was thinking of getting it.
The guy described the problem as a transmission sensor was gone bad. He said there were 5 sensors on the transmission and he felt it was the one on the inside. He said it would cause the transmission to not know which gear to go into. Now, I have no idea how much of what he said was BS so that's why I have come to the experts here!
Has anyone heard of a similar problem with that model DSM or any DSM in general? Your thoughts on what it might be and most importantly, what the cost to fix this would be? The guy is wanting $2,200 for it and I would love to have it to play around with but if I am going to have to sink a wad of cash into it first thing I will probably just pass.
I did search the FAQ's that I could find on here and other sites before posting. Hopefully this question hasnt been beaten to death, sorry if it has. Just point in the direction of that thread and I'll be happy to pick through for the answers!
