1G Transfer case splines?

sorry... i know i know... hit the search button, couldn't find nothing, i jsut bought a 90 tsi with the awd assembly disassembled and the guy told me the transfer case is not the original and he bought it from a guy who didn't know if it was a 90 case or a 91 case... i was wondering if someone could give me the teeth/spline count for the t-cases or those years... thanx

90 and 91 should both be a 22-spline t-case.

90's have 22 spline. 91's have 23 spline. If the transmission is original from a 90, then its a 22.
