After a fast run home on the highway, around 100-120 or so, i got into town and my tranny was really acting up. Slipping inbetween gears and such, shifting wrong. I'm letting it cool, cause I'm sure its on fire, but what should I replace,... end clutches? Think there is alot of permanent damage? Any info would be helpful.

P.s. 86k on the tranny.

Well, I let it cool, and added 2 qt's of tranny fluid. It wont shift into any gear and wont even engauge. The tranny has never slipped or acted up badly before today, except for a few fast stops. Now it wont even engauge, sits through every gear like its in nuetral. any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

It sounds like you may have blown your trans.

I hate dsm's. I'm buying a honda. Anyway to rebuild the tranny, or am I better off buying a new one?

There is probably not a "new" one available for your vehicle.

My suggestion would be to let transdude rebuild it and install a new shift kit. I have a 91 Talon and transdude (John with IPT) in my opion is by far the best; I was rebuilding my engine and took the tranny to him and he installed the shift kit in it along with other frebbie parts. I finished the rebuild and there was something electrical wrong, after a few phone conversations with transdude we decided that I should bring it in, so I did on Friday and just as he said something electrical, well he fixed the problem, feed me, checked and toped off all fluids for a safe trip home and the car shifts like a bat out of --ll. The BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever received. TOTALLY SATISFIED, Thank YOU TRANSDUDE!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

My dad told me before I go taking it apart to check a few things. Make sure the CV Joints aren't bad, and make sure the kick-down cable is in-tact. I only noticed 1 cable off my throttle body, could this be whats wrong? He said thats not definate it could all be electronic...?

There is no kickdown cable on your trans or on pretty much any trans made in the last 10 years or so.

If your cv's are broken, if you rev the motor in gear, the speedo will go up even when the vehicle isn't moving. That is a quick way to check them.

So can you rebuild this transmission? Or is it a total loss?

Almost any transmission is rebuildable and can be made much better than new.

Ok, the transmission got scanned and it came up as the "C1 and C2 Clutches" is what I was told. The shop wants 500$ to take it out and put it in, plus whatever labor is involved in replacing the clutches. Transdude, is there a kit you can hook me up with that will fix this problem and make it stronger? Appreciate the help.

p.s.
Also, what model number trans do I have? Is it the W4A33? Thanks.

I have never seen those particular codes, probably because there is no C1 or C2 clutches in your transmission.

I think the shop where it is may be be blowing smoke.

same thing happened to me, i took it into the trans shop, the fluid was crappy brown, basically everything was fried, i had gone on a five hour cruise before it, and at first there was a whistling noise at around 40-50mph bu then that slowly started dropping down the rpm range and then finally one day it just quit working, if i turned it off and back on it would move a lil but then nothing... i had it completely rebuilt instead of just having it fixed, 2400 bucks to do it... the tranny before that blew without warning one day when it had snowed, the tired broke loose and i heard a loud "kachunk" but nothing wrong happened...about two miles down the road it started slipping and it quit just as i made it up the hill to my house... when i took it in to get fixed the guy showed me a silver dollar sized hole in the housing... so yeah thats why my car is not very modded right now... lots and lots of $ spent on repairing it.

(sorry for the long post)

That aint good right there.
Unless it actually *needed* 2 more qts, you overfilled and blew the seals, which is why it's completely dead.

Sorry for not updating you guys on what happened. Here's the story.
On the torque converter there is a bearing inbetween that and the pump, or around that, well that bearing slid back up against the converter itself and chewed up the trans fluid pump, and the converter, so it wasn't pumping fluid, and the converter was screwed anyway. Appreciate all your help. Btw, I'm looking to buy a 96 Silvia. =)
