Tranny leaking

I have an AWD talon and when the car is on and on park it does not leak any fluid. When i take it around the block then it starts leaking and slipping until it catches on. Any idea of which seal may be leaking or whats causing this? Soon im going to put it on a lift and find out but i just want some opinions

Guessing it's an automatic....
If it is pumping out fluid pretty quick then it's probably the front main seal (torque converter seal).
 
Yes, thats what i was thinking. I was going to pull it off to have the auto built anyway but it looks like ill just change the seal only.
 
I have some bad news, after dropping the trans and replacing the input shaft seal or converter seal the trans is still leaking rapidly from the bellhousing just like it did before. Needles to say fellow member JohnMarines (thanks for all the help man!!) and i are dissapointed. Anyone else have any opinions of what it may be? thanks for any input.
 

Thanks for the links man!! The trans is coming out again this weekend and its getting rebuilt. I dont want to waste my time of guessing what it may be and put it back in for it to leak again. The rebuild should do the trick and then i can move on to installing my T3 setup:thumb:
 
A competent shop will notice upon inspection if that bushing is the problem without even taking the pump out..Very quick, easy and cheap fix for them. My shop fixed it and charged me an hour....I hope this is your problem and you don't need a rebuild...Another thing, that bushing is NOT part of a rebuild kit, doesn't matter how complete it is..It not even shown on CAPS...

I have to take the trans out again so when i send it to the shop they will tell me upon further inspection whats going on. Hopefully it turns out just like it did for you but a rebuild is probably a good idea at this moment.

What do you think about a fresh rebuild, end clutches and a shift kit?
Im also going to run a BIG cooler and full line pressure via a chipped TCU or a shift box.

You hav'nt mentioned what your goals for the car are..
I have the shift kit, chipped TCU, cooler with fan, Shep 4-spider center dif, Hughes re-stall converter, duel flexplates..

If I had a stock un-touched setup like yourself,
1. I would keep the factory cooler where it is and plumb it through the cooler on the factory radiator..
2. I would use Amsoil or Redline synthetic trans fluid
3. Run full line pressure
4. Add a trans temp sensor
I would have to know more about your setup to advise further....

There are two seals that are hidden from you that could appear to be the TQ leaking, the Input Shaft Seal and the Output Shaft Seal.

Did you notice any fluid in the lower right area of the bellhousing?

The advice should've been to replace both since you need to pull the trans to get at each one pretty much.

Yes, there was fluid on the bottom of the bellhousing but i couldnt tell where it was coming from. After replacing the input shaft seal it started leaking just like before so it could very well be the output shaft seal like you mentioned.

The tranny is going to the shop and i should have it back after the holidays with all new seals as well as some other mods.
