Alright I have a auto awd tsi and the tranny was leaking badly from the inside of the bellhousing. So after taking down the tranny I found the tourque converter seal to be torn up pretty bad.. So that is where the leak is from. What i was wondering is if this is common for these to go the car has 102K+ miles on it, or usually when these go its a sign that something else is bad in the tranny such as a bearing. There was some signs on rubbing on the metal behind the seal.

If anyone has had this problem any help would be nice before i put the tranny back up.

also the input shaft coming out of the tranny seems to not have any play but the smaller shaft at the end moves in and out quite a bit im not sure if that is supposed to move or not.

Likely you can replace the seal and go on. Lube the lip so the converter doesn't damage it on startup. Now, if it does it again, it's likely the front pump bushings or even the rear main on your engine getting sloppy. This allows lateral travel of the slightest kind and can kill seals.

While you're there, remove the cooler lines and flush them out through the radiator. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a larger aftermarket trans cooler on it. Heat is the largest killer of these transmissions.

That should do it.

Good Luck
