So I recently removed my transmission in order to replace my clutch fork and pivot ball because of shifting problems I was having, and I noticed that on the top side of the tranny around where the shifter cable bearings hookup there is a bolt missing. If I look inside it seems that I can see my reverse gear and I'm not sure if all that was in there was a bolt that backed out or what. From looking at it, if it was just a simple bolt it wouldn't be bolting up anything it would just sort of be acting as a plug for some reason. Now I just need to know if I can just plug it back up with another bolt or was the bolt actually holding something inside that I should know of. Can anybody help me out with this? Here is a cell phone pic to show the bolt hole.

I cant really tell from the pic but could that be where your reverse sensor goes that turns on your reverse lights?

sorry about the late reply, but I believe it definately has something to do with my reverse gear. Its definately not the reverse light sensor because thats actually plugged in and more to the left of that picture. My haynes manual sais its called the "Restrict ball assembly." I can get into reverse gear but I have to play with it all the time, I guess this is why, Im going to see if I can order this special bolt from the dealer. In the mean time can anyone tell me if this is why reverse is a little tricky to get into? Thanks guys!

Yes, rev is integrated into the 1/2 slider assembly. That ball and spring is there to prevent the gear idler from wandering around and going into rev and 4th gear at the same time. It will also complicate going into rev.

I have hundreds of those. I can send you one for $7
