Threaded piping?

Ok guys I bought a Gsx and was looking over it and noticed some kind of thread like pipe that comes from the j pipe and connects to the intercooler, I'll post a pic of it but wanted to know if I would cause boost leak from the air escaping! And also the name of the certain pipe so I can get another one that is hard, thank you.

This is a squeshy threaded pipe attached to the j pipe. wouldnt this cause boost leak from the air escaping?

I'm going to agree with My1gLaser, sounds like the LICP, but the pic you posted does not work. Need to see the pipe in question to assist you further.

As everyone said, post a picture of it. The only way to know if it will leak is to do a boost leak test.

I agree with Bryan in just doing a boost leak test, but that does look pretty torn up. I would try to find another one or get a hard lower ic pipe just for the peace of mind.

Also my father was wondering if a dead alternator could cause boost issues cause the ecu/tune cant function properly in the car cause the electrical problems?

That hose looks definitely looks pretty bad. It does not look like the stock hose because of the length and orientation. It shouldn't angle down like that or be that low. What turbo is on the car? Also if the battery voltage is low when driving the car than yes it will run bad.

That's not threaded bro..Thats a stock licp..Yes a hole in that will cause a MAJOR boost leak.

If you plan on not going FMIC. PR has a hard piping kit.

I was super curious when you said threaded pipe.Now you know the difference.

It actually looks like the protective sleeve that comes on some stock IC hoses. My first DSM was a 90 Laser and all the rubber IC hoses had a removable outer woven sleeve over the rubber hose. It had all kinds of random crap cause it was a 90! You should still BLT it to make sure there's not a hole in the LICP itself.
