You dont have $50 to buy a spare VC, but your going to need alot more then that when you whole motor takes a lovely crap. Just go do yourself and all of us here a favor and go read a freakin book! The VC is there for a reason. Just get rid of the car to someone who knows what they are doing and go buy a honda!

You should polish your VC so your car isn't so stock. I think it's going to look good. I can't see it eatting the tarp. The lobes on the cam aren't that rough. They are very smooth.

Yeah, I think I figured out a nice system. I'm going to just fill the engine to the top with oil and put the tarp on the bottom of the car and I'll just hook a tube to that and suck the oil into the motor again. Then it should be fine, right?

You can also use a carrot for your balance shaft, and some extra long hot dogs for cams.

You'd be suprised. I think I'm going to use machanics wire. Tapes won't stick to the engine. Not Duct, scotch or masking.

And I might just not drive it anyways, the turbo is off the car right now too.

Thats basically what mine looks like, Its not polished either. I just used some high grade paint stipper to the stock paint and it turned out like this. I love it.

Get yourself some steel wool and Mothers Polish and get it done.

But definitely don't drive without a valve cover.

I mean if you are going for a "polished" look, then just stripping it will make it look dull in a short time like project_tsi's, won't it. I've seen the dull gray before a bunch of times, looks good in an industrial kind of way, but MUCH different than polished. Isn't the VC aluminum? You will have to polish it constantly to keep it shining, or clear coat it or something.

IDK, I saw raw aluminum wheels before, and you have to maintain them or they go dull.

Dude, I stripped mine w/ paint stripper, never covered it w/ anything, or polished it once. I love the raw aluminum look of it and don't want it shiny or clear coated or shit, And no, it doesn't rust or oxidize either.
