So im sure all you guys are sick of hearing about my damn clutch rebuild but here goes anyway...

this morning i took off the the shop to put the thing back together. All went smooth and the flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate went on without a problem.

my troubles began when i went to reintall the actuall transaxle. Having to work with just myself and a friend, a floor jack, and having the car simply jacked off the ground as high as i dared, i just couldnt get the damn thing lined up. It seemed like no matter what it would hit something or just wouldnt go in.

granted i only had 2 hours i had to give up early, is there a secret trick that im just not getting? On my way into town i thought about the idea of bringing the tranny in from the side, by the passenger hub instead of straight up. Is this the way its supposed to go or am i just that much mechanically uninclined?

Once again i appreciate it everyone, and i apologize in advance for my ignorance.

sometimes the tranny's can be a pita, but keep persisting. i dont know what to tell you other than that. good luck though, and remember you torque everything to spec

Just keep trying it toke me and buddy of mine over two hours to install it our problem was the transmission didn't clear the clutch it ended up being a jdm transmission.

thanks for all the advice everyone. It'll be monday before i get a chance to go back down there and get that thing in. And by jacking the actual engine "forward" do you mean the exhaust manifold going towards the front bumper correct? And that is accomplished by putting a jack on the intake manifold side and raising it as far as the mounts can allow??

Jack the car up, slide the tranny under there where its easily accesable. Drop the car down (find a happy medium) lean over the fender pick it up with your bare hands and lift it into position. Done this well over 15 times in my 6 years of dsm's.

You have to remove to engine support that is on the timing belt side. Then you will be able to make the engine tilt. This way just position a jack under the oil pan near the damper and lift it up as much as you can. Now the flywheel side of the engine will be a lot more accesible and it will let you much more room to put the tranny in place. JUst place the tranny under the car. with you under the car and a friend from the top of the engine bay, lift it and place it in place.

Well I tried every method listed here, all great ideas by the way, but for some reason the damn thing won't go. After about 6 hours of wrestling it around I finally called my buddy(ASE Certified Mechanic) and after another couple hours we gave up for the day. I think im just going to pull the whole freaking motor and go that route. I need my car back asap LOL. Im pretty much dying slowly aha

Alright so for anyone who might have been curious i finally got the thing in. I was running low on time and right before i decided to pull the motor i just got pissed and threw the damn thing in. Really suprised actually. Anyways things are running smooth now and all i need is a new wheel bearing and a new color LOL. Thanks alot you guys.
