I see people talking about test pipes all the time. Some people say that they work and others don't. I know that these are supposed to go in place of the cat, but how good are they really? I'm just looking for a little more pep from my n/t and a deeper sound. I'm going to be upgrading my exhaust in the within the next 6 months. I need from the downpipe/frontpipe back. Could I just go with custom piping from the headers, weld in a section of flex piping, and then run it straight back to a magnaflow muffler? There are no emissions testing out here, so I don't need to worry about that. I also see alotta talk about resonators, and they are supposed to get rid of some of the noise...so should I be thinking about also welding one of those in the piping? I'm a newbie when it comes to exhaust components, and right now my plans were for a high flow cat, 2.25" piping to a magnaflow muffler, but now I have to replace the downpipe/flex pipe section too, so its going to basically be a whole new system. Any help would be appreciated.

if you want deep do the 2.25 witha straight thru muffler. i know hollowing the catwill make it louder tho. exhaust willbe deep as long as themuffler dont break inside.

take a cherry bomb, do the trick to melt the glass using gasoline and a match, and than you have a muffler that just looks like a muffler, otherwise, its completely straight piped

goo ddeep sound is all in the muffler. straight pipe will give you a few more hp. very few.

do you have exhaust. if you have liek a pacesetter exhaust cut th emuffler off and have a shop weld on a apexi n1 universal muffler. get the 60mm piping. if you gut the cat it actually hurts you a little bit because air sloshes around in the hollow space and doesnt flow through effeciently.

id go straight pipe and an apezi n1 muffler.
