I was also just wondering if I can use the Stock headers and cut the flange and put a t3 t4 flange on that? will that work fine? and if so what type of t3 t4 flange should i buy since they sell a lot on them on ebay but they are different kinds of metals????anyone

If you want to run t3 or t4 you need to buy a new header with the t3/t4 flange. Punishment-racing.com has good stuff and buget things as well. Good Luck

But not for the 420A... yet. Please keep in mind which section of the site in which you're posting.

Your in the 420a section there buddy :D

well my car is a 420a. I was talking about my stock headers. The stock headers has 2 bolts under it and thats where the down pipe goes. I was saying cut that flange and weld a t3 t4 flange. so then i can mount the turbo.... will that work

Ok, my brother and I are building something like what you are describing, except a Camaro. We are taking the exhaust and making it straight pipes all the way back. At the back next to the trunk, we are installing our turbos. This is where your flange comes in, it will have to be a custom fit job, we have a guy in Ill. making the flanges for us. We are then going to Y-pipe it back to an intercooler and from their to the engine. We aren't 100% sure how everything will operate yet, but it's trial and error. If we have good results, I will be more than happy to share the details.

He doesn't even have the mani/turbo attached to the car. It won't clear. If you had done ANY research before making this topic, you would know that already. Spools better than a log manifold? Do you have any proof to back that claim or are you just spewing crap out to make yourself look smarter? Also, do you honestly think it will clear the radiator and starter with any decently sized turbo attached to it? Or how long do you think the stock header is gonna last with a turbo hanging off of it? I doubt it would last long before it starts crack from all the weight.

But prove us wrong. I want to laugh at this attempt at a turbo build because someone is too damn cheap to afford a manifold made for a turbo on the 420a. It costs so much nowadays, $170-180 is crazy expensive :toobad:

Coulnd have said it better :thumb:, To OP good luck ROFL

Ill give you credit in the fact that it did bolt up so to speek and that it does look somewhat respectable for a diy job but i do agree with everyone else I think your gonna have clearance issue. Did you even try to mock it up before actually making it

Has 2 bolts holding the turbo to the manifold. Will spool up FAST now!

Whatever happened to cutting off the stock flange and welding a t3/t4 flange on? (title of the thread)

Well guess what I got me TDO4 turbo from a 1st gen and guess what fitment and everything worked out even better than i expected. i had more clearence than what i needed i even routed the intercooler pipeing. well tell u this i am boosting 14 pounds and tell u what i built full boost at 32 thousand rpms so that sounds and feels great. I have no exhuast leak aswell. Also the oil return line i thought was going to be an issue has most people stated but once again it was easier than i expected so thanks for all your help i got a 420a with a 14b on stock headers here are some pictures ill take some other better ones later... Its it turbo or not mmmmm?wow it is turbo 14b
