Symptoms of knock????????

I was wondering if you can tell if you have knock w/o a logger. For instance what does it sound like? Or what will it do to your car? can you tell performance wise? just curious any insight would be great

As RPM's rise, knock will make the car feel more sluggish as timing is being pulled. Other than DSM Link, a logger, or an EPROM ECU with the knocksum feature, you can't tell if it's knocking (unless you can hear it and that's pretty bad).

I've run up to 15 counts of knock and never heard it, but I certainly felt it.

Not enough fuel. Improper air/fuel mixture.

I had up to 40 counts on my 91 tsi, ........... maybe thats why I had a 80% leak in 1st cylinder and 110 psi compression across the board. The crappy part was that I couldn't even hear the knock when it was happeneing. I would really recomend finding someone close by that has a logger. You will save yourself alot of time and money in the long run.
