Im gonna start off by saying ive read most of the post about idle issues on here and none really had all my symptoms. Its been doing this for a while and kind of evolving over time. It started out by when i would coast to a stop in neutral the rpms whould rise up and drop down really fast. well i adjusted my biss screw to idle around 800 and sealed it with rtv. that stopped the problem. then a few months later i started to notice the lights pulsing with the rpms, thought it was kinda wierd so i checked it out. turns out my battery terminal came loose, tightend it and it got better. then a month or so later same thing happend only it wasnt loose. turned out it was my alt. replaced that with a spare used one my freind had and it fixed the problem. well lately ive been noticing my cars idle has been really inconsistant, one day itll idle at like 600 and rough the next 900, and the idle will pulse and all the lights will pulse with it, which is anoying but tolerable. so i replaced the battery terminals with no effect. i noticed power steering fluid leaking down by the alt. so i replaced all the hose clamps with good ones and took it down to autozone to have them test the alt. they said that the tests said the alt. batt. and starter were good. now im not sure if thoes tests would show something wrong like the regulator going out or something that would cause power surges. also the fuel pump whine goes with the pulsing and also the blinkers. it doesnt always pulse but its pretty common and seems to get worse with the cold weather but not sure on that. Now its getting worse, the car seems to run ok when underboost and im on it just the idle pulse and whining pulse of the fuel pump. I parked at walmart to shop came back out and the car started up and then died...i started it again and it sputtered out. i started it again and gave it gas and held it for about 20 secs and let off it idled normaly. and also the pulse use to be fast like wahwahwahwahwah but now its going slower waaahhwaaahhwaaahh and the dash board lights pulse with it like the coolant and seatbelt and thoes lights. im totaly lost. i tested the TPS it was at 5.27kohm and the ISC tests were 30.6 30.4 30.6 30.8 im currently in the process of taking the ISC out to test the action of it to make sure its working smoothly. but i cant help but feel like its electrical, it is acting similar to when my alt gave out the first time. Im sorry this post is so long but im really stumped and any advice would be helpfull. thanks in advanced

Is your pump rewired? Sounds like its sucking juice somewhere. If the lights are dimming then sounds like a connection problem. Check wires that are loose or what not. Did you check for vacume leaks? I had a bad negative and bad positive terminal. Check the wires on the pos and neg.

i dont think that my pump is rewired but im not sure if its stock or not either. I took pics of my batt terminals cause i have a concern

I would try to fix that with normal terminals or try fit the hole wire in the place. See if thats your probem. That could be it. I had something like that where the wire isnt in all the way and it fixed mine. If thats not it, and if your pump is loud then you probably have a aftermarket one. Do you see a fuse or anything that goes through the firewall back to the pump. Maybe something is sucking juice.

the wires are in all the way in and tight. but you think i should cut it down to were there is no exposed wire? and the wires coming off of the pump are stock

Wow you have some of the same issues I have. LOL I haven't fixed mine yet either. Though I do not have any surging problems. Though idle can be in consistent at times. Like sometimes going in to nuetral it will go to 1100 then 1000 then 900 where it should and other times it'll drop way down almost to shut off and then come back up. Now a ground wire broke from my batt to firewall and I half ass fixed it. But then I add two extra grounds to help out and it would idle perfect everytime for two weeks. Now its gone back to being retarded again. With your pump if you can hear it and still have your seats and all in the back it isn't stock. I My fuel pump is a wally 255 and it does the same surging thing with flickering gauge lights or turn signal. But this is only on cold starts after driving the flickering and pump surging quits. The pump didn't really do that in my other car but it had been rewired so I'm gonna do the same to this one and hopefully that'll quit. As for idle surging that's usually a tps gonna bad. ISC going bad usually causes the starting up and cutting off problem and having to use the gas to get it to stay running.
