So I bought my 94 Talon for $1500. Broke a control arm. Fixed it, took it for a spin. A very spirited spin.

I was coming up to a stop sign so I pushed in the clutch to pull it out of gear and slow down. I noticed something weird when it felt like I hadn't released the clutch before doing so. I push the clutch back in and nothing. Wont go into gear. So I instinctively rev-match it into 2nd gear. Push the clutch in and blip the throttle and the car jerks but then the clutch decides to disengage? So I take of in 2nd and limp it home. It will disengage the clutch if I blip the throttle...

Haven't pulled the trans to find out. Clutch fork? Pivot ball? I get full movement of the slave cylinder so my hydraulic portion of the clutch is fine. I get the weirdest DSM problems :)

I'm wondering if the clutch itself (ACT 2600) is bad... I hope not. I'd rather replace the pivot ball and clutch fork...

Thanks in advance for the help.
Zach

sounds like your clutch fork might be stuck or snapped, or ## TOB ate shit. Either case, you have to pull the trans, that will give you all the answers you need. Update after pulling tranny.

Ok so probably not a clutch issue itself? I'll just order a clutch fork, pivot ball, and OEM Mitsubishi TOB as well as the clutch alignment tool.

Now, is it just an OEM Clutch fork I'm looking for or is there anything stronger out there since OEM Clutch forks don't seem to like the ACT 2600's pressure plate :)

If the fork was sticking, would the visible movement outside of the tranny be different? I need to get an Evo III 16G and Punishment Racing FMIC before I set to this project...

For sure, I will update this. I've been reading and saving $$ on the side for this $1500 car I bought.

Ordering an OEM TOB, Clutchfork, and pivot ball tomorrow. Will drop the trans and report back!

Crossing my fingers it's only an issue with one of those 3... if it's the clutch itself... YUCK.

Are Zoom clutches any good?

Personally, I would look into first before ordering stuff. Now if you take the tranny out and realize its a different issue, you have wasted money on the parts that could have been spent on the ones you need. Good luck.

While I do understand this, I'm going to replace these anyways since the owner before me didn't replace these things when he swapped the clutch.

It's $100 of insurance that I won't have a problem with these things. Clutch is adjusted properly as well (No creep whatsoever at 7k in 1st), welded the pedal assembly, new master and slave.

If it's not one of these problems, I'll have to replace the clutch itself, at which point I would be replacing these things anyways...

Here is a thought, the clutch disc will spit out a spring and it will fudge up the works. It happened to me and it is common. I bought a disc that trapped tthe springs this time. Tres...

BTW clutchnet sold the disc

Turns out I was wrong. The car had a Clutchmasters FX300 in it judging by the pressure plate, the sticker on the PP, and the clutch disc design. I wore it to bare metal on both sides and I had to pry it off my flywheel... :)

Clutchmasters FX400 and Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel? YES PLEASE!
