Such a thing as a "too" built engine?

Back to the original problem...

They are just looking out for me because they don't want something to break during my travels. A 6 hour drive through SD and WY you go through about 2 towns, so I'd be stranded. That's what they're worried about.

So anyways, anyone have experience doing long distance with a built engine?

Ahh. Hmmmm. Keep 1 credit card with a $3k limit. Only use it if something breaks. There will allways be the occasional breakage, especially when u have some real power. Just prepare for it and show your folks you are prepared. You should be anyways :thumb:

I am an engineer and I turn my own wrenches. That explains all the people running away from me! Sometimes I wish I could run away from myself! ...

dude your 19 years old, grow some balls, and tell your parents POLITELY to continue caring about what goes on in your life but leave your car, and whatever you do to it to you and you alone..... Its not like your 16 and your parents are Paying for all of this crap to go on your car.... Hell you prolly have them pick out your own shoes if you havent grown up by now.. One good thing you got going for you is your Car... I like it and i dont like much but i think it looks badass. So continue to do what you want to do... Oh and leave the grease monkey with the I.Q. of 25 out of the picture... Good luck. :thumb:

I have a 95 gst with a built motor (je pistons on crower rods) i put 1200 miles a week on it. and its held up great. just keep up with maintenance like the other guy said and you'll be fine. and i've had the same problem with my parents about the whole too much modding thing. (i'm 19 as well) but i did what others have recommended. politely told her to leave my car alone and if it breaks then i'm driving yours. haha. but seriously maintenance and your good. nice car BTW

Not hard to tell you're not a parent.

They spent 18 years raising him, you have absolutely no idea how much you care for your children. They're looking out for his best interest and safety, which is what all sane parents do. When you know little about cars, and are told something about cars by someone who you assume knows lots about cars and who you trust, you tend to believe them.

Try something reasonable with your folks. Take some time and actually try and explain what you've done to your car, and why it doesn't make any sense. Telling them that their friend is an idiot or anything along those lines is going to do nothing but piss them off.

Herostar the best advice and correct comments on your parents you have gotten. They Love you. That's cool!
There is a product called KrankVent that relieves the cranckase pressure and might be looking into.

There was a comment on turbocars having blowby, can someone elaborate on this? If I rev mine to 3k I get either a misfire(plugs and wires next week) or what I feel is excessive blowby. [Better yet, start your own thread, and someone can come in and hijack it instead. ]
PS: you probably have a cell phone right? Mark
