I don't know about any strong radio mounts, but last year my radio got stolen from my car and they took the whole bracket (the metal one that the readio mounts to) with the radio. I went to the hardware store and purchased some sheet metal and used my dremmel to fabricate one. Although the internals are pretty ghetto, it is very strong and versatile, and if you take your time added with some ingenuity you can finish something like i did for a front plate.. Check out my interior pics to see the finished product.

The internal bracket holds the radio in place, and the plate with the turbo timer and boost controller bends between the radio bracket and the radio to push it up.

Let me know if you are planning on doing this and i will take pics of everything i made and how its is put together. all it takes is time and patience

yeah, defently get so sheet metal cut to your size, like he said use a dremal to cut out your gages, turbo timer, safc, stero, and use metal mounting brackets and if possable a tig welder to peice it all together. take it to a local paint shop and have them prime, paint, and clear coat the front. $30. got yourself a nice custom peice of equipment for $50

I just got through mounting my new Sony MX3DI deck last month. It would not mount with the stock mounting holes without being too deep or too shallow. I measured how far back it needed to be to reach perfection, removed the console, removed the two metal side-mounts that you removed to install your plastic mount, then drilled holes where I needed them. When I remounted it, everything fit perfectly. My car already had a pocket when I bought it, but if you do a search, someone hyperlinked a website with pockets on it. Sorry I can't take pics, but I don't own a digi camera. If you need more detail, let me know. I know it pissed me off for a week when I got that piece of plastic crap mount from Scosche. I didn't even install it. I just sent it back. If anyone wants to steal my deck, now, they're going to have to remove the console to get it out. Very sturdy.

Go to the junk yard and pull the original mounting brackets, you'll be glad you did.

I bought my car, missing any mounting brackets for the radio, the previous owner had the radio stolen.I managed to find a Talon with the right mounting brackets and plastic storage unit mounted below, I think it cost me about ten bucks, neat. :)

I reinforced mine when it broke with some riveted sheetmetal and a little bit of enamel epoxy. It was inexpensive to do and works great. never had an issue since.

The Scosche brand one is great. I have that one with the pocket, it is much sturdier than the ones without the pocket.

hmm, now that you bring that up, I'm not sure which one I have, because my pocket is a full size pocket.
