Alright, my car got stuck in 3rd gear last time at the track. It happens anytime I push it with any speed/force into 3rd gear. I can get it to get stuck either at a standstill, or whn driving. It requires me to pop the hood and pry out the shift lever so it pops out of gear again, and if I pull back hard enough on the gear shift I can do it from inside the car. It feels like it is being over extended somehow.

TRE tranny with 2k miles
B&M short shifter @ 50% reduction with maybe 6k

Anyone else have this problem?

either the shift fork is damaged or the 3/4 hub is worn. Either way you will need to open the trans and inspect each for damage. I have rebuilt a few transmissions where the slider is worn so much that the teeth on the slider dont slide past the hub and dont allow you to shift out of the gear.

Yea I was afraid of that. I adjusted the shifter cables under the hood and it hasn't been doing it anymore, but I guess I'll have to tear it down and see. Shifts smooth as butter so I hate to take the damn thing off, but its still under warrenty at TRE so I'm not out much.

When it's the slider that's worn it may not do it all the time. In the cases that i have seen it only happens every once in a while.

Ahh, well it sounds like thats the problem then. Any ideas as to what would cause that with so few miles on it? Thanks for the help.

it wears where it meets the gear. This is usually due to missing shifts, a draging clutch or any thing that drags the slider on the gear.

Not sure if you got upgraded forks in yours, but where it breaks on the fork it just does not look like it is meant to be beat on (stock fork)
