Winnipeg,
Okay so i want to hit 300hp+ on the evo 16g i'm getting but someone told me its impossible to get 300hp on a stock intercooler. Just wondering if this true and also wondering what options i got on a side mount or a cheap fmic because i don't want to spend too much money on this. I'm just looking for something to support 300-350hp.

I got my Hahn SMIC on ebay for 150 shipped. Just keep an eye out. You will catch them every one in a while.

Get an XSpower Fmic with short route piping off ebay for around 300 shipped. I hear they are extremely good intercoolers.

So basically the stock sidemount can't support 300-350hp? Whats a good sidemount that can't support that range so it don't sweat.

Its been done but not the best thing. Why would you want that much power with a huge restriction like a stock sidemount. At least a supra sidemount is needed and they still heatsoak after one or more pulls

Okay where is a good/ cheap place to get a decent sized fmic, i went to ebay but i heard xs power and most of them suck...... So i'm kinda stuck..

search up a thread about ebay FMIC. They have got great reviews and they might still have the group buy in effect for $300 shipped.

Wow they actually do have good reviews, i thought everything from ebay sucked...LOL

NO, but the real question should be how much can I push stock, period. The fuel system wont allow you to push past 16 psi without getting really bad fuel cut, and I mean bad. Plus, yeah, the SMIC will not be the best thing for your goals. Trust me, I am replacing mine as we speak.... :talon:

you would be best off getting Water injection if your dead set on sticking with your stock IC. thats going to be your easiest way to get over 300 with supporting mods sans a big IC

Fuel system has nothing to do with fuel cut. You can have every fuel mod and still get fuel cut if your running a crappy 1g maf. If the maf reads to much air coming in the ecu will cut the fuel.

Your right about fuel cut having nothing to do with fuel upgrades. It has to do with the metered air going in and the ecu compensating to keep the a/f mixture right. He has a 2g so the maf is pretty good, not sure about it supporting the goal he wants but it may.

Yes and no. You can max out your injector fuel out put, and lean out your car, as we all know, is bad. :nono: I know that the MAF reads the air, and then you get fuel cut by the ECU reading too much air, but too much and not enough fuel, that is a ticking time bomb aka lean mixture.

The Supra sidemount was mentioned. I'd just get a front mount unless you want your car to be a "sleeper."

Another vote for the Supra SMIC. I got mine for 100 bucks locally, and installed it for another 15$, tops. It's kinda a bi*** to install, but it was cheap and the work was definitely worth it. Plus you can't really tell that it's not the stock IC unless you know where to look.

It took me 2 days to install it, working slowly, taking lots of TV breaks, stopping to mow the lawn, look up stuff on Tuners, and run to Lowes and Home Depot. I'm used to working on marine diesels where everything is huge and 3 people can put their hands on a part, not a tiny import car where everything was designed for midget hands.

Hell, if I start to heat soak it I'll just get a water injection kit and put a nozzle before the IC to cool it off.

Okay well i found the XS power fmic and i'm going to get it, only $300 shipped with all pipes and everything!! So yea...also to hit my goal i should also get new injectors and fuel pump as well correct? Because i heard fuel cut was mentioned allot.
