a lil'bit background info:

just registered today after getting my first car, a '92 eagle talon awd, got it from a guy who was also a part of this forums, had everything ok except of the few problems i have:

first, stock gauges not working except my speedometer, so tachometer and fuel gauge is the real problem since i have the oil and boost gauge in my pillar, the guy i bought from bought another gauge, put it on but the problem was still there, what do you suggest i do?

second, wiper blades not working, i have no idea why,

third, i'm a real newbie as this is my first car, so please if somebody's gonna answer, please explain a lil' bit more,

and yes I used the search button, there was thread from 2005 that I didn't want to necro, and it didn't contain much useful info

make sure the gauges are plugged in. Get under the drivers side dash with a flash light look to the top of the fuse box there should be a black connector similar to the flash plug. Make sure the connector is plugged in. I had a 1g that had the connector plugged into the flash plug by mistake and I drove for about a month before I figured out why the gauges wouldn't work.

Pull the instrument cluster and inspect the connections. It's just a few bolts on the dash cowl (two inside top, two underneath, and two under the narrow vertical center trim), and then four screws holding the cluster in. The center trim piece just snaps off by carefully lifting outwards and up from the bottom of it. Drop your tilt steering down as low as it will go and the cowl will come right off.

The cluster just "plugs in" to the dash, with somewhat fragile plastic ribbon contactors on each side. Once you get it loose, disconnect the harness plugs on the left side and it should come right out.

Also, please work on your grammar a bit (punctuation, capitalization, etc.). It will make your posts easier to read, and you will get more responses from people that can help you with any questions you may have.

I would also HIGHLY recommend picking up a factory service manual (FSM) on CD, or at the very least buy a Haynes or Chilton's manual. You can also view and download a copy of the FSM from this page.

Welcome to DSM's and the site!

Ok thanks for all the reply I will try all that as soon as I can, I'll post again on what happens.

And one more thing, anybody knows how the wipers won't work?

In order of likeliness:

1. Fuse
2. Wiper motor
3. Switch
4. Wiring

I listed the the motor ahead of the switch mainly just because it's much easier to check.

BTW - There is an edit button at the bottom of each post that you can use to go back and clean things up if you notice any mistakes, like in your first post for example. ;)
