when i take my talon out to drive around town (which isn't often since it's not insured) occasionally i will see some puffs of white smoke coming out of the hood on the passenger side. however by the time i pull over and pop the hood, the smoke is gone but there is a strong stench coming from the engine bay, again from the passenger side. i am confused as to what is causing this issue since all i see on that side of the engine bay is the intake, fuse box and a bunch of hoses. any help would be greatly appreciated.

White smoke is usually coolant. There are coolant lines all over the passenger side of the engine. Throttle body, Firewall to t-stat(heater hoses).Check your coolant and see if it is low. Visually inspect the area, Look for leaks or residue from leakage. The fuel filter is also right there on the firewall. You need to determine what the smell is.

stench as in rotten fish? Clutch.

Now, imagine killing someone in your car with no insurance.

im sure its not the clutch. my dads a seasoned stick-shift driver and knows what a clutch will smell like. the insurance part is the biggest reason as to why i dont drive my talon very much. i just drive it enough to keep rats out.

the coolant was pretty low the first time i noticed the smoke but since i refilled it (maybe a month ago?) it hasnt shown much decrease in coolant levels
