I am putting exhaust(header back),intake, intercooler pipeing and raising the boost to 15-16 psi on my 1991 gsx. My question is will the stock mas handle this or do i need to upgrade to a 2g one. If so where can i get a cheap 2g mas the dealer wanted $500! Also what amount of tuning will be neccasary with these basic mods? I realize tunning is the most important thing you can do but i want to keep it cheap as possible. Thanks

The 1g maf can handle that much boost- have you done the free MAF mod? There are two honeycome rectangle boxes located on the MAF. You can remove the bottom one for more airflow. It is in the tech guide section of this site.

Your stock MAF should still be fine. You should be able to get a cheap 2G MAF from a junkyard when the time comes, or you can go with the 3" or 3 1/2"GM MAS and Translator.

First thing, we don't have "headers". And for a short answer, no you don't need a 2g mass for that, your 1g mass will handle just fine. I advise against you raising your boost to those levels without an afc and logger though. I know your trying to make "cheap power", but you're going to end up spending way more trying to fix things that break. Keep the boost at stock levels until you get an afc and a logger. I'm sure you can find a 2g mass in the classifieds section for 50 bucks, but its alot more than just plug and play. You'll need an afc to tune that as well. Hoped i helped you out, if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

sorry i ment manifold, so the the stock maf is good, what about the injectors will i need 550s? I'm sorry if these are stupid question as i am sure they are, but where is a good place to pickup a datalogger? I want to stay cheap but realize that money spent on tunning is small compared to money spent on repairs.
