just bought a 99 gsx wednesday drove 250 miles to pick it up. everything was fine when i got there EVERYTHING. was on the way home and went to get on it and as soon as it would hit higher boost it would start bogging and sputtering pretty bad. it has a 16g and aftermarket bov, and adj fpr. i tried setting my base fuel pressure at 43. and then at idle it drops to 33 and im pretty sure its supposed to be between 37-39. so i might have a minor vacuum leak.. enough to bog that hard? anyways the car looks like it has been sitting a while in that case i havent got the chance to change plugs and wires etc. anything else it could possibly be? it has a exhaust leak at the down pipe after the turbo so im sure thats not a problem. if anyone could help me be appreciated.. thanks

Definitely check for boost/vacuum leaks

Do you have an aftermarket boost/vacuum gauge? What boost levels are you running?

Is your BOV recirculated? (probably not causing these symptoms, but it should be recirculated)

What other mods does the car have/fill out your profile when you have time

yea aftermarket bov and it is recirculating.. any quick way to check for boost leaks ? no other mods.. like i said i havent even done a tune up on the car. just want to conquer every problem whether it is small or big. it looks like it pulls about 14-16 peak boost.

id replace the plugs just because its easy and u dont know what plugs are in there and how old. deffinatley check the vacuum lines that go from afpr. what kind of afpr is it? i know when i had a cheap one after a while the spring in there was shot and couldnt keep up with the 1:1 ratio. you should be at 43.5psi at idle. and when setting the afpr did you unplug the vacuum line first then adjusting it? and also do a boost leak test.

get a boost leak tester for $25 or make one urself. just take off the intake tube and clamp it on to the compressor housing, fill it up to 30psi and take a spray bottle filled with soap and water and go to town checking for bubbles.
