ok. so im thinking about changing my interiors color. right now i have brown and black. i was thinking of doing all black but idk if i can spray paint it. (the last thing i want is the paint rubbing off on my pants on a hot sunny day) sooooo my question is, has anyone ever spray painted their leather seats before? if so what did you use and where can i get it? oh and DSM rules! :hellyeah:

Look into dyes paint is not the right way to go, even if it some how adhered to the leather the flexing would cause sever cracking in the paint. Best bet is dyes, someone seats or aftermarket.

*trade someone's

Yes you can paint leather interior if you buy the right stuff, not regular spray paint.
I would personally only spray paint seats as a last resort. Find a car with black leather if thats what you want or have them re-covered. Custom seats are always an option, if your not happy with the other options i gave you

yea your best bet would be to just buy seats that are already black and then sell the ones you already have to kind of help for the swap. also check in the classifieds for seats.

thyanks for the help. but what about door panels ? same thing?:hmm:

i am planning on getting some aftermarket seats but right now im on a budget due to my next awd conversion project. so thats why i wanna do somthing cheap and fast. but i dont wanna make a dumb choice either.

Door panels you probably could get away with plastidip/spray paint much less flex in panels, you could always wrap with suede as an alternative as well and not worry about/flaking cracking, and is cost effective.

If you paint anything in your interior make sure you use a flxible paint, clear coat and wax. You'll need this to protect it. Also make sure you take any panels your spraying out of the car and prep properly first, unlike all the honda kids.

I've also seen leather dye's available that remind me of shoe polish...I can't remember the supplier but it is out there if you search around....deffinelty don't paint your leather seats it wont last and you will be dissappointed in the end. I just finished rebuilding my interior, lots of suede, fiberglass and proper primer/paint. Went from dull stained grey to a black/dark cherry two tone.

thanks alot and everyone else on here. good thing i asked :thumb:

Why don't you like the black/tan interior? That and the all black interior are the smexiest interiors available.

smexiest :hmm: im thinking thats a good thing LOL. i like it but i would perfer all black interior. what do you guys think?

I've never personally painted Leather, but i know there is a Product we have at school in my collision program for painting leather and i know that one of my instructors sprayed the interior in his jaguar. Ive never checked it out but you have to know about mixing and spraying automotive paint.
I know that it takes a base and a flex agent and some kind of reducer, but i don't know the process you have to use on the leather before you spray it.

If people want i can find out more about it and post what i find out.
