Ok...Ive got a 97 Eclipse GS with the 420A motor & I was wondering what plus you guys were running & what gap you use as well. Ive used several different types in the past & all seem to be ok, but my car keeps fouling them out & thought that the plug may be the problem. Thanks

NGK BKR6E-11 at ~ 0.045" - 0.050" gap is recommended. Fouling could be from oil, rich AFR, to cold of a plug for your driving style, or mis-firing.

I would say since you're turboed, you need to get a hotter sparkplug such as bpr7 thats an NGK gapped to 0.28, thats what recomended on our 4g63's.
Im guessing youre using regular plugs for a 420a if thats the case do as i said above. if im wrong and you need hotter(better) try irridium if what i used to put on my 420a.
Good luck

I didn't realise he was turbo'd. My bad. You will want to reduce the size of your plug gap to prevent mis-firing. Usually to ~ 0.028" - 0.032".

NGK BPR plugs are too big, they will not fit. Use BKR's for a 420a. If they are fouling because of an incorrect heat range, his plugs are either too cold, or he doesn't boost enough and should use a hotter plug.

Irridium is a material, and has nothing to do with the heat range of a plug.

Thanx on the info at least we both agree on that he need hotter plugs:cool:

NGK BKR7E's from 0.028"-0.032", stock number 6097. :thumb:

i get mine at advance auto. i use the bkr6e-11 and have never fouled one. if you do fuol those plugs you probably have a rich fuel condition that is pretty rich cause i always run on the rich side and get my plugs to last. and i dont go around boosting everywhere! my car hasnt run in a year or so but those are the plugs i ran when i was driving it.
