Spark Plug Gap

get a spark plug gauge, any auto store, only a few cents, maybe a dollar. Gap to .28 - .32

Ooops. Not many plugs gapped to ¼"
let's make that (non-turbo) about .033" - .038"

uhm this is the N/T forum so i dont think its the turbo model. So, I don't think that it would be the same gap as the GSX. Check the haynes book on the proper gap and pic up a little tool from discount auto or where ever.. thay are like a buck.

.033" - .038"

A picture won't help much.

Be sure to get a wire gapper, not one of the ramp-types, or flat feeler gauges.

.033-.038 is WAY TOO SMALL FOR A NON TURBO CAR...gap them to at LEAST .048...

.050 is what is in my OFFICIAL 420a overhaul manual from MITSUBISHI...

The gap is 0.048-0.053 for factory plugs. I'm running the NGK's and that's why I put in there the 0.043". I forgot that I had upgraded plugs and closed the gap a tad.

Hmp. Mine came from the '95 Chrysler Talon factory manual, let me know if it's wrong and I'll whip out my semi-pointy crayon and correct. Thanks~~

that question will get a lot of opinion based answers...

for me i use NGK...they seem to hold out good under any condition...

so what is everyone else using???

ya im using NGK too. they have been holding up to my nitrous spraying for almost 2 months now and are still in pretty good shape. but yesterday i accidently crushed one without knowing it... it didnt work so well after that... luckily i had 4 extra in my room.

Are you looking at the NT or T spark plugs? That's the only descrepancy I can think of.

It just occured to me. We started running NGK plugs from the factory about a year or so back in many Chryslers. It's a long stretch but you might be able to check your local Chrysler dealership but be prepared to tell them the part number on the spark plug. That's sort of a last hope shot there but maybe they can help.

The 2gnt got a Champion plug. RC9YC if I'm not mistaken. Chrysler has ran Champion for years now and it wasn't until this past year or so that I started seeing something else in there. I guess the Champions just don't do the trick anymore.

I think it's a mistake. This is from the 1995 Chrysler Talon Vol 1 Engine, Chassis, Body. Bah, book-learnin'.

what does everyone gap their spark plugs at? I have mine gapped at .32 and I was wondering if this was to big of a gap and would gapping the plugs at this gap cause the spark to be blown out?

-Travis :talon:

I've heard a lot of measurements for spark plug gaps in turbo dsm's. .28 .32 .34 ????
Which gap is best for low end power? Ever since i've put on my downpipe i've seemed to lose low end power. i'm running bpr7es's and i'm gonna throw in some brr6es's bust i wanna know that best gap for low end....

need a gapper gauge from pep boys or somethin, slide the gauge around till it spreads them apart to whatever you want it to be, or if it too big tap it in with a screwdriver handle.

btw, dont use platinums in a turbo, but if ## a non turbo guy you dont gap platinums anyway.
