Something creaks when I turn the wheel or hit a bump.

I would put my money on a torn ball joint boot. Probably your lower control arm. Check it out, that's the exact sound my tsi made when the driver's side one went bad. Catch it before it goes out on you though.

Ball joint - plain and simple. All the grease is out and ball is grinding into the socket.

Raise the front end to where the tires barely clear the ground.

Take a bar and put it under the lower A arm and raise up on the bar.

See any play between arm and knuckle assembly?

If so, ball joint is bad.

I would defiantly check out the ball joint very soon I could be very dangerous if it fails while you are driving if there is a mitsubishi dealer in your area and the owners before you have no already done so you can take it to them and they will replace it for free.
