Ok I have had this smoking problem for awhile now and been trying to fix it all summer before I head to college and still haven't got it quite right since I've started. I'll start with the symtoms and also tell everything I've checked.
1. Does smoke at all when I first start it in the morning only after I have driven it awhile THEN it will start to smoke at idle only, no smoke during shifts or boosting. The smoking gets worse as it sits. At first I thought that this was water because I was slightly loosing coolant but it ended up being a leaky hose.
Compression check - 185-185-190-195
Replaced headgasket with MLS OEM headgasket and ARP studs torqued to 85lbs
Replaced PCV valve
Checked LICP and no oil there
Replaced T25 with 14b ported and polished
Checked all of the plugs and they all are burning perfect
My car runs PERFECT other than the fact that it is smoking at idle
Now my last thought that it could be would be valve seals, I haven't had a chance to take off the exhaust manifold to check to see how they are leaking but from what I heard valve seals would leak when you start up really bad from the oil leaking down the shafts. My thoughts are that possibly my oil is being sucked into the combustion chamber during vacuum conditions at idle.
Also if this does end up being the valve seals I would like to replace them w/o removing the head due to me using a copper sealant on the headgasket to help sealing and when removing the head it might mess up the headgasket. BTW I only used the mls gasket because they sent me the wrong one for a cheaper price
. I know that I would need to use a miller tool or the type but was wondering what other tools people have used because some have found some on ebay that have worked.
