Hi, I have a question of lowering a 2g eclipse. I installed Skunk2 Coilovers and KYB shocks and when i lower them all the way down, it seems as though the axels are binding but im not sure if that the problem. When the coilovers are all the way down the fromt wheels have about a little less than half inch clearance so it really doesnt seem that low. However if i lift the car up so there is one and a half inch clearance the binding stops. the binding feels like the car is somewhat jerking when i pull off slowly. I havent drove the car on the road yet because im afraid of damaging something. I dont know if it helps but there are 18x7.5's on the car with a 225/40/18 tire. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Ahh not this...Just got done with this crap.

You will need new axles to stop the vibration. The CV joints are worn in at stock height and create minor tracks or wear marks inside. When you lower the car the bearings or what ever they are called in there are spinning at a different angle and there for are not on the tracks of the original ride height causing the vibration and such.

Some words of advice. If your doing this yourself and come to find the axles are seized in the hub and dont come out after maybe 6 good hits with a sledge hammer then take out the axle and hub assembly and try to get it pressed out at a machine shop. That way you dont ruin the bearings in your hub by beating on it. If 50 tons of pressure doesnt get it out, you and a sledge hammer wont. Good luck

and lasty I had put in my new shocks and coilovers 24 days ago and have gone 16 miles on them becuse of the axle problem you and I are having. I have spent 264 on axles 128 on a new hub ( driver side didnt come out of the hub even with 50 tons on it for 3 days ) 20 on a noew compression arm and ball joint and probably 50 bucks of misc stuff.

I do know this, it rides smooth on the new axles though. Good as new. All thats left is an alignment.

easy answer: Don't lower the car so much. Seriously, if the problem goes away with the car raised, then raise it!

and b: Skunk2 coilovers such ass, they really honestly do.

True, but he knows where he wants the car to sit and now knows what it will take to make that setting a reality. Also say he raises it up just enough that its kills the binding feeling. Every dip in the road will reslut in the car shuddering. So if thats the case he has to raise it even more and by that time the suspension wasnt even worth the money, But hey its his decision well see what he wants to do.

Exactly, who here can elaborate why the Skunk2's are so much worse than the GC's....

people swing off GC's nuts because they use Eibach Springs which are truly proven, and also have different applications for different shock brands. I my self have the Eibach coilover springs (450's front and 275 rears) on my car and love them. At the same time I have nothing bad to say about Snunk 2 and untill now it has been 98% positive what I have heard about them. I would not worry untill you have a reason to.
