stock pretty much everything, just hacked air can.. im not sure if i should be getting boost in 1st gear no major boost leaks but i think there is 1 somewhere but i couldnt find it

The injector seals leaking are not enough to keep you from boosting to 10psi. It will have to be a fairly large leak such as the brake vacuum line going to the back of the intake or a intercooler hose about to come off. Sometimes large leaks can be hard to find because you can't hear them like the whistle of a small leak, more of a low rushing wind sound.
Did you check base timing? You mentioned hacked air can, not MAF right? Maybe check the wastegate actuator arm, perhaps it's bent (opening wastegate slightly) or stuck open. Try running the rubber hose from the wastegate actuator directly to the J-pipe nipple (if your still on factory boost solenoid setup). Don't worry, you will only be able to run 10psi of boost doing this.

well then i got a question how long should my system hold air? ive never tried a test with the turbo inlet closed but i will so it all leaks fairly fast. yes hacked air can not maf. ill try the wastgate as you said.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you're trying to say. You've done a boost leak check & found some small leaks, I'm just saying sometimes larger leaks are harder to detect so check large connections closely. You are connecting to the inlet of the turbo and applying 15-20 psi of air correct?

Ok so is this what i should do?
1. remove airfilter/box/vacume hoses
2. put tester on turbo inlet
3. put pressure in and listen for leaks

is that all there really is? because doesnt a bunch of air leak out from like the VC vent..and the vaccume lines to the MAF, and bov.. shouldnt all that be capped off for the test?

when i did mine i just took off the turbo intake and stuck the home depot made tester on and filled it up found the small leaks, fixed and thats it. I had no leaks from anywhere else. your system should hold pressure, thats what its doing when your driving just now your doing it manually. if your leaking from all over then theres your leaks.

I didn't hit 11psi in my 90 until I removed the restrictor in my boost control solenoid. I don't have a manual boost controller yet. Before the mod to BCS I was hitting about 8psi. Are you running a manual boost controller? If not your boost level is pretty dang close to what it should be. As for my personal experience with 1st gear and boost. My boost gauge (yes I got an aftermarket one) at idle sits at -18. But in first gear I usually never romp on it to really boost it, but have seen it get to 5 or 6 lbs before I shift. All other gears I can hit my 11psi at about 2400. And oh boi;D

not really sure i did not worry about any of that i just hooked it up and sprayed for leaks. It will be a lot easier with three people. one watching boost psi, one putting in air, and one spraying for leaks.

Sorry, all I have to contribute is that you need to take it slow and repair ANY leaks, no matter how small. They can turn into big leaks later on. Fuel Injector Seals, Piping, TB seals, couplers, Lines, anything where air flows, check it. And check it close. Do it 4 times if you need to.

Now.. as for boosting in first gear.. I JUST tore my car down to replace rings and bearings and whatnot as it sat for 2 years... but when I test drove it, I ONLY had 1st, and it'd build enough boost to firmly plant my in my seat when I floored it, and I'm talking 3.5K. Now I'm not sure if the previous setup had the WG setup weird... but I know that I CERTAINLY had boost by the time I even hit 6K. If I had the car up I'd video it.

It'll be up the day my new rings come in.

ok i have a quesiton.. i have a 92 talon awd tsi. i just got it and the guy said the oil needed changed. so i changed it i put conventional in it by mistake being a noob. i also got a oil filter from napa and it happened to have no seal. i drove the car for 100 miles before noticing the no seal problem and oil went everywhere! all over the top and bottom and sides for the motor i lost about a quart and a half before noticing. i changed oil with mobel 1 and a good filter with a seal and now it seems like i have no boost compared to what i had. i'm really confused what happened. i know i didn't loose enough oil to cause internal damage.

i had really really bad injector seals and i dont have a boost guage hooked up yet but the car ran like crap on boost. would sometimes stall in between shifts when boosting and throttle seals are shot getting those soon and other little stupid leaks. throttle seals are usually bad especially if the guy before you didnt take caer of it
