Short Ram Air

Hey fellow dsm enthusiast i just bought a die-cast aluminum intake pipe off of ebay if anyone wants to see it heres the link eBay Motors: 95-99 Eclipse Turbo GST GSX/Talon Air Intake Pipe * RAM (item 380073600731 end time Jan-15-09 02:11:54 PST) it says it is a short ram air but it looks the same size as the stock tube is this good????

thats all a short ram really is its jst a aftermarket hard pipe replacement for your stock air can. mostly they look nicer and it lets better clow threw since ## not using the restricting air can. plus then u can put aftermarket high flow filters on. your ###### thinking of a cold air intake those generally run into the fender of some other place so it isnt drawing from the warm engine compartment. cooler air = more horsepower. cold air is more dense so it raises ## compression ratio for a bigger "bang"

It's kinda hard to "ram" air into a FI car. The best you can usually do is to just get it that coldest air possible with the smoothest path. Most people just get an intake like you got and build a box around it with a sheet of aluminum.

What do i do with the dump tube do i put it in the new intake pipe? or completly take it out?

If you mean the tube that connects from the BOV to the intake, then keep it. Without that tube you will not be recirculating your BOV, and will be throwing your air/fuel ratios off.

Thanks chico. I did a dump tube cut mod on it idk if you know what that is but if you do do you think that it could cause a problem with a new intake pipe?

No not at all. I'm guessing the dump tube mod you did was cut off the part that extends inside the stock rubber intake. The new intake already has that cut off. All you need to do is find a way to connect the end of the BOV to the end of the intake pipe. You can use rubber, flex hose, etc whatever you prefer. The stock hose will work just fine.
