Victoria,
I searched and found nothing surprisingly.. I can't seem to get any info on the 2G shifter cable adjustment.. or if it even has any.. I have the shifter mount bushings and under hood bushings.. they made it more noticable to me that the (sorry for my terminology) side to side cable (select cable?) doesn't go far enough into the 1-2 gate, and easily goes all the way to the 5-r gate.. I assume it should go about equal distance to either side from center.. that's definitly not the case, when shifting into first and second it's not really a problem, but you can feel it kind of clip the edge of 4th gate every time you go into second.. it's not quite over far enough...

Sorry if there is a how-to or some info on this that I missed.. seems like there should be, but I couldn't find anything.

Thanks.

There is a little white piece of plastic under the hood on the gear selector it is prob worn. pull it off turn it 90* and put it back on, i also got rid of the rubber in the mount for the shifter cables . go to the hardware and get some washers to fit it, I had to trim mine to fit inside the bracket. now it shifts like its part of the trans instead of cables, and no there is no adjustment in the 2gs.

Thanks,

I know the piece you speak of, is it supposed to be a square? so you can just turn it and re-use? I can't quite remember exactly what it looked like, but seems to me that if it were turned 90 it would be too extreme the other way?

I don't understand what your talking about. A little white piece of plastic? WTF Where exactly?

From what I gather, shifter cables tend to stretch over time. Some cars have an adjustment on them while ours don't for some reason.

My 1st and reverse will grind while going into gear sometimes (well, most of the time) and I am pretty positive that it is because the cables have stretched beyond their limits.

My96AWD, if you can explain what you said a bit more I would appreciate it.:thumb:
