Took my car to mech friend to do some mods I just didnt have time for. New starter, new ACT2600 clutch, upgraded brake pads, buschur racing 3" catback. Car ran really good and now when everything is back together, the car barely idles and when give gas it boggs down and heavy black smoke comes out the exhaust. Feels and acts like a vaccum leak but we cant find a hose off anywhere! Also we have no ck eng lite. Car is at normal op temp and its about 80 deg out. just friken stumped because it ran fine before mods!! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Oh I have a KN FIPC on it also. 98 GSX

Make Sure
- The MAF connect is secured tightly and no pin or wires are broken. (The MAF connector will be located a few inches from the k&n filter.)

- Check all vacuum hoses and I/C clamps from the intake to the throttle body.

Good Luck

Swapped Maf's And Wasnt The Problem So We Gave Up And Took It To The Dealership, Dah! It Was An Intercooler Tube Off That He Didnt Know He Knocked Off Durring Clutch Installation. Something Simple But Expensive Education!! $180 For Fix(tubeoff)

I am very dissapointed in you TAS!!!
First, I told you to perform the troubleshooting procedures listed above. Don't be afraid to work on your car, it is your car!!!! It would have taken you less than 30 minutes. I am in ft.lauderdale, It woud have taken me about 2 hrs to get to tampa and I am sure that loose hose would have been found.

Second, who did the clutch installation? If you did, give your self a big swift kick in the rear:), if those morons at mitsu did it, you should have gotten credit for their mess up!!!

good ole Mitsu, $100 to pull your car in the door. Listen to Rick, start to do some of your own installs. I disconnected IC pipe takes a whopping 2 mins to reconnect. Take a weekend and learn to take apart simple intake lines and pipes, and re-install. For example turbo intake pipe and vac lines, upper and lower IC pipes and BOV recirc tube and waht not. This way if you have an idle or boost problem, you can check all the connection points and it wont cost $200
