Sup Guys,

I currently have Brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors (ebay) and noticed light squeeking lately when applying the breaks signifying that I might need to replace my pads soon. I have several questions, which to go with? Ceramic? Semi-Metallic? Metallic? Also as far as brands should I go with EBC's (some say they're overated) Axxis or Hawk?

Additionally I have rear drums, should I replace those brakes pads also?
Question: When exactly are the rear brakes applied? I mean I always thought that rear brakes (especially drums) only worked when the emergency brake is applied. Please correct me if Im wrong.

BTW, I have a 99 GS Spyder, not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Is the squeek from the front or the rear? I bought ceramic PBR ultimate from www.importrp.com for my Brembo slotted/drilled rotors.

The rear brakes are applied just like the front brakes when you press the pedal. You have drum brakes instead of rotors like AWD DSMs. The emergency brake is a cable linked to the back of the car to slow the car down if your brakes fail or if you need to park on a hill.

Don't get the EBC's. At least not the greenstuff ones. They seemed like decent pads when i had stock brakes, but I've never seen a pad put down so much dust. Literally disgusting. I've had good luck with any quality ceramic pads. Virtually no dust, not fade, and a good feel. I've heard Hawks are good, but I've never used them. I have used Akebono pro-act ceramics and i like those. I forget what type of ceramic pads I have on the front right now.
