Sending Head off

I am sending my head off to get rebuilt all that good stuff. I have a noobish question, when you send a head off as a "Core" do you need to remove the old valves, springs, and retainors? Or can it be sent as one whole unit? I really dont need the valves and stuff that is why I am asking.

if you're sending it off as a core, most places require it to be complete for you to get a core refund.
