sell or build FDSM?

Ok so after tons of time and a decent amount of money, my transfer case went out.
I recently replaced the starter, battery, transmission, clutch, transfer case, driveshaft, wheels, and a few other small things. Bringing my total to a little over two grand in parts. 677 miles later I hear a gringing noise and the rear end of the car starts to feel like it's shaking. I check everything I could think of and found out the driveshaft bushings I got where worse than I thought and fell off already.
there are still a few more items to adress on the car but I have lost the excitement I had with the car when I got it.
I found a running and driving 86 rx7 5-speed for 600. My first idea was an rx7 powered by a 4G63, and I have always been more into drifting anyways.
So i'm wondering what you guys think?
I know this project would take a couple years to build if I want it done right.
I'm thinking I could pull the motor, harness, ecu, and wheels. and sell the shell to make enough to cover the rx7 and a few other parts
What do you guys think of this idea?

I say since you already have the car, and have invested money into it, stick with it! I found these for rather cheap:

I found a couple transfer cases one for $40 and one for $50.
I'm either gonna sell it whole or build an rx7 and let another dsm'r get the shell and build their own..
