Has anyone that owns the new APEXI s-afc II hooked up and used the knock sensor? If so, does it work well enough to tune with? How about the graphic replay funtion, of any use?

Thanks,

They say that the knock sensor input for 1Gs works with the SAFC II, but I disagree. I have a 1991 GS-T, and I hooked the knock sensor up to my SAFC II, and it does not work at all. Its never read ANY knock even when my logger is showing 43 counts of knock (eek). I don't know if I have to change a setting in the SAFC to make it work, but so far, it doesn't work. Anyone else have any luck?

I'm not sure about a 1G but I have it hooked up on my 2G and it provides a numerical value but the value is incorrect (alot higher than actual). The problem is that the SAFC II isn't calibrated for any particular vehicle's knock transducer output so the method they provide you to set up the knock (rev engine to x rpm) isnt' near accurate enough to properly calibrate the display output. It doesn't degrade the signal as some would have you believe (ie: the circuit only reads the output current/voltage, does not introduce or sink any voltage. We are in past 60's technology) so you can hook it up but it's more for show.
