I need some help. My 1997 GSX just had a 1G head swap with all new valves and belts. It ran fine for a few weeks now when it idles the belts squeal and the idle jumps from 900 to 2100. ay idea what to look for. any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks guys.

The belt looks good. everything seems to be lined up correctly. Also the noise gets louder when i turn the wheel.

If the belts look good, right tension, do a search on "crank pulley" and "harmonic balancer".

i just checked everything again and the pulley seems to be warped(some chips and rust). maybe thats the problem. Do you think the idle is due to the BOV being vented? The car idled fine before, then i did the head swap and the battery was disconnected so i was thinking the setting on the SAFC were reset. Do you think this is possible? thanks for all your help so far.

Take it one thing at a time.

1. If the crank pulley is wobbling, replace it.

2. Recirculate, whether it has something to do with your idling issue or not.

3. Perform a intake leak test.

Post back results.
