I have a scratch down the middle of my #3 rod journal on my crank. I can feel the scratch pretty good with my finger nail. Its more like a grooved scratch i guess.

But anyway, is this crank trashed? Will it just eat the rod bearing or can i expect it to last for a little bit? Im trying to get atleast a good 5000 miles out of this engine before i sell the car.

I was thinking sicne its in the middle of the surface it would only cause problems to the middle of the rod bearing and not fail right away. Is this right? or is this crank pretty much trash?

I dont want to end up buying a crank so i hope this is atleast going to be OK for a little while.

Thanks

its in a 7 bolt longblock i bought off of ebay im tearing down.

amazing what $2000 gets you these days.

so the crank is totally not useable in its current condition?

im willing to run it knowing the bearing WILL fail very prematurly but im not going to use it if its going to fail in a matter of days.

it will just eat the bearing away in a matter of minutes wont it?

thanks

No, even it you sand/machine it down
Dont waste your time or money putting it in and taking it out, It will fail in a matter of miles and then you have to get it towed do to the rod going threw the block.
That is why i dont buy nothing off ebay or from someone i alway cheak it out and take it apart before i buy!!!
See if you can get your money back was it claimed as a running motor or did it say as is? A good 7 bolt crank or a new one would be better
