What do you think of these?

eBay Motors: 18" WHEELS TIRES 5 LUG MAXIMA ECLIPSE TALON CAMRY RIMS (item 150254715975 end time Jun-09-08 23:24:54 PDT)

I know what your all going to say you get on ebay what you pay for blah blah blah! But looks wise and they come with a set of tires I think they aren't to bad. But would like to hear what you all have to say about them as far as quality and looks on a silver gst. I need new tires for my 16"s as it is just figured after I put a decent set of tires on there I could actually have bought some rims. Also going with new brembo slotted rotors. Otherwise I would have alot more to spend on the tires and rims.

Those look okay... but why wouldn't you go with a brand you know if you're going to spend that much? For the $850 you're looking to spend there you can get a set of higher quality wheels. Have you checked out Edge Racing? I bought my wheels from them, their prices are the best I've found and even their standard shipping is very quick.

You just don't like the look or what? I am liking them myself. Just worried about quality. I mean for the price for everything I really after checking both those sites still can't be beat on the looks department.

I don't like them either but if that's what you want buy them. They are going on your car not ours. check out tirerack you may find something else that you like they have good prices and you'll be able to see what they would look like on your car before you purchase them.

Sorry, those wheels are ugly. they do not go on a performance oriented vehicle. Now if you're the body kit and neon lights type...then possibly. Don't just buy them because they seem like a good deal, they some with POS tires.

You do realize that these wheels and tires are CHEAPER than a set of good tires right? That should tell you something

$850 for a set of good tires? Seems like a bit of mis-information. Don't forget to check craigslist. If you're on a budget, you can get slightly used wheels/tires for probably half what they originally cost.

Nexen tires are not good, I know because I see them come in with seperations on them from people that but them off e-bay. I would say if you could get about $1000.00 you could get some Drag wheels and some Falken 512 tires. Drag wheels have lots of colors and designs for a good price.

Good to know but I don't know if that's enough evidence to boycott the brand. I had a set of N3000's and found them to be a great value and would probably buy them again.

I guess I should have been more specific. Many people on this forum tend to be budget guys and will skimp out where they can. So I guess that might justify a cheap set of tires. But don't forget, it's not only the performance of your car that is affected, it is also the safety of you and your vehicle. A good set of tires can be the difference between you making it through a turn or sliding off the side of the road.

Now you say mis-information. May I ask what tires you run, and have personally owned? Nevermind, I checked...you run Fuzion tires. I won't make any attacks on them, granted I'm not a fan. But I meant it when I said that a good set of tires is easily the price of those wheels. ESPECIALLY since they are 18's. A good set of 255/40/17, which I run, can easily be $800+. A $200 tire is not uncommon. Grant (flash) will back me up on this, a $850 set of wheels AND tires will be garbage, unless you have some spectacular hookup (which the original ebay ad was not).

I guess not everyone needs good tires. Not everyone knows how to drive or has a car that can deserve good tires. And for those people, I GUESS nexen, fuzion, generals, etc will work. But if you guys want recommendation for a good, inexspensive performance tire, than look no further than the Falken RT-615. Don't say I never pointed you towards a good deal

Do lighter wheels make that much difference. I know it's not actual weight on the car but it does effect the launch but how much? I considered going to 13 lbs. wheels.

they do, but its nothing that you will probably notice tho...

Lighter wheels make a big difference if you plan on racing. Will you feel the difference under normal driving conditions, well that depends on your car. Here's an example, I ran 19x8 wheels on my xB on a normal basis, when I put on my 15's for the track, trust me, there was a big difference. Granted yes, the wheel size was different, but the weight of the wheels play a huge role.

This question is like saying, does a lightweight flywheel make a difference. It's rotational mass that is attached to the drivetrain. My answer, yes. Drive a car with an ACT and a lightweight flyhweel, and then go to a 7.25" twin plate, and tell me if you feel a difference. It is amazing how much improvement there is. :thumb:

Also, look into tire weights too if you are concerned about less rotating mass. They can be significantly different from one brand to another. And for drag racing, 13lbs wheels aren't that light. You may want to try something around or under 10lbs if you really want an ideal drag setup.

I rarely go drag racing and pretty I'm going to head back to Calif when I finish college and there are no drag strip there. So I'm going to have fun on the street and probably just rolling starts.

I live in California, I've definetely been to drag strips. Where abouts are you from? Don't say anything about having fun on the streets...thats a big OH NOES :shhh:..haha. Rolling starts are fun, i guess....really doesn't take much more then stepping on the gas. :toobad: You got awd, use it! haha

Like danny said, infineon and sac. They're reasonably priced and have decent track prep if you know when to go.

What part of the bay are you from? My close group of friends commute from san jose, union city, fremont, and san ramon to go to the track. Granted it's not a weekly thing, but its not too bad. Let me know when you get out here, if you want to 'have fun' on the streets. I got some friends that will be down.
