Reverse only works when I first start the car?

Hey,
92 TSI AWD
I fairly recently had a tranny rebuild (IPT rebuild kit and shift kit) and I've had this problem since the rebuild. Usually(75-90% of the time) when I first start the car, then back out of my driveway, everythings good. No problems. But as soon as I drive it around for a while, stop, then try to go in reverse it never works (<5% of the time). BUT if I shut the car off, turn it back on, then go in reverse, its works maybe 60-75% of the time. Here's another wierd thing, when the problem happens where I have no reverse, I can't even push the car, it acts like it's in park. Also, when I throw it in neutral, it acts like its in drive when this problem occurs. When I don't have the problem, every gear works normal, including neutral. Any suggestions? Gear selector switch is aligned properly. Could it be the neutral safety switch? Should I check the o-ring on top of the VB? Is this an electrical problem or mechanical? any help is appreciated.

Just made an interesting discovery. When I have the problem with reverse and neutral, if I shut the car off, reverse and neutral work perfectly fine, car rolls back easily. Also, If I unplug the TCU, it still has the problem. Does anyone know what this could be???? Valve sticking in the valve body?

This was also happening to me, I had to shut the car off to go in reverse after driving for a bit and if i didnt it would rev up and slam in but now i have to rev it up a little bit all the time to go in reverse. Im still waiting replies in my other thread also.

If when you put in reverse and the car wont roll I would say it's a cable adjustment as park is controlled by a lever in the trans that locks the output shaft not by any of the electric valves or any of the ones in the VB. I would take the cable off of the trans and see how much slack there is in the cable (pull it in and out ) if it has very much take a look at the shifter stuff in the console for a bad bushing ,and put the shifter in park inside and move the lever on the trans to park and see if it lines up perfectly and do the same for all the gears to see if it's a adjustment problem .Also make sure the cable has the clip that holds the shift cable to the bracket mounted on the trans .
And make sure all of the bushing that hold down the cable are not loose as it sound like when the motor move around it is pulling on the cable making it out of adjustment and some times not .
