[RESOLVED] Removing lug nuts that are to big?

So I have 18in chrome rims that came on the car. The lugs are factory looking ones and are to big. As in I believe that they are 3/4in, but the socket does not fit on there due to the rim needing thinner lugs. What is the best way to get them off? Use a hammer and shove the socket on the lug? I'm at a loss.

If all else fails, take it to a local tire shop and have them take off.

DO NOT try and get them off with a hammer and a socket. You WILL damage things and end up causing more of a headache.

Ok, thanks for everything. I couldn't find a thinwall anywhere. So I took a die grinder and dremal to the rims and made enough room for the socket.

you did what?!?!?!!?!?!

Why didn't you take a grinder to the socket and thin down the walls first instead of ruining the rims?

The rims are dented and are generic. The company that made them aren't around anymore. plus there was no chance of damaging the studs that way.
