Alright - so I did a search and couldn't find anything about a loud heater motor, only about dead ones.

If I turn on my blower (heat or AC) anything above the first speed, it gets VERY loud. It almost seems like it is rubbing against something - but is obnoxiously loud and seems leaving it on is doing harm while driving the vehicle.

So I'm wondering have any of you experienced this before? If so, how'd you fix it? Thanks.

It sounds like it's time for a new blower motor. As time goes by the bearings start ot go dry and start to sqeek and at the end lock up and die.

would it possibly be rubbing on something in the squirrel cage, or something under the passenger side dash? I read something about that, but would like to check it.

The only way you will know for sure is pull the motor and blower. Check the motor for shaft play and look for whear marks on the blower and in the heater housing. Then for the final test hook the blower up to a battery and run it to see if it's making any noise.

Probably just a leaf hung up in there - Pull the center Section Squirrel Cage & Motor Assemby & give it a good Cleaning with Electrical Cleaner - Reach up in the housing & clear as much debris from the Ducts as you can reach - I've used a Shop Vac up in there too.

How do I drop it?

I'll clean it out first, and if that doesn't work, I guess it's time to replace it.

Thanks guys.

alright - ill probably take care of that tomorrow, and I'll take a few pictures to show you guys what I found!

I looked under there today and saw a few screws. Is it necessary to take the glove box off to take the blower out?

I had the first pic thing happen and it was throwing the "cage" out of balance and rubbing and making all sorts of noise. I cleaned it out and it was never a problem so I didn't have to buy a new motor :thumb:
I've also had a single leaf make it in there and act/sound like when kid puts a playing card in the spokes of their bicycle:thumb:

As for the EMS...
WTF:barf: YUCK and YIKES! Was that your's?

I just did it tonight - pulled the motor, cleaned it and sprayed it down with lysol, and threw it back in. Took me about an hour for everything. Thank you all for your help.

No more noise, and it smells great.

Here's a pic of the crap I took out...
