Replaced alternator, now no heater

K, my alternator was putting out 21 volts....so I decided that I needed to change it perty quickly. I changed it....but now I have no heater. Did I put the belt on wrong, or forget to hook something up? I'm at work right now, so I can't work on it, but it would be pretty sweet if I had a heater during winter. So, any ideas? I'm sure it's just some stupid mistake that I made, but I'd appreciate any help that I could get. Thanks.
 
Check your fuses maybe when you hooked up the alternator or the battery back up it shorted something and blew a fues.
 
I haven't checked the fuses yet, but the heater was working just fine before I changed out the alternator. Would that cause them to blow, or is there some sort of wire that I could have disconnected while I was replacing?
 
I don't think there is any wiring that you would have disconnected to make the heater not work but when hooking the wires back up to the alternator or battery could have shorted something or gave a power surge or something and popped a fuse so id check them. Also look around and see if you had unhooked anything else but there is nothing near that area that you would have un hooked that I recall. Hope you find it man because id die with out the heater its been -5 Deg. the last couple of days hear.
 
When you mean no heat, do you mean no blower or blower working and blowing cold air? No blower can be checked with a test light. Check to make sure it's getting voltage. If not, check fuses. If they are ok, then check your switch.

Things like this can happen even though you were no where near the secondary problem.

If it is actually like -5 degrees out there then it is possible that you did not put the belt around your water pump pully and that is why you're blowing cold air. Normally you would realize this very quickly, but if its that cold the engine could probably go for a very long time without over heating like that. Just a thought.
 
Turns out that it was the alternator fuse. Replaced it and everything runs ok now. Thanks for the help guys.
